OB Medication List
The following list of medications may be taken during your pregnancy.
DO NOT TAKE ANY MEDICATIONS NOT ON THIS LIST WITHOUT CALLING OUR OFFICE AT 727-462-229. This also includes any other medications prescribed by other doctors outside our office. If your symptoms are not relieved within 48 hours or if they worsen, please call.
| ∗Fever or headache: | Tylenol, Regular or Extra Strength |
| Sore throat: | Chloroseptic Lozenges, Salt water gargle |
| Cough: | RobitussinDM |
| Decongestant: | Regular Sudafed |
| Nasal Spray: | Ocean Spray |
| Antihistamine: | Chlor-trimeton, Benadryl |
| Heartburn: | Tums, Rolaids, Mylanta, Riopan, Maalox, If symptoms are severe, you can take: Zantac, Tagament, Pepcid AC |
| Constipation: | Colace or Surfak Stool Softener or Metamucil |
| Severe Constipation: | Milk of Magnesia |
| Nausea: | Emitrol, Ginger or Oil of Peppermint |
| ∗Diarrhea: | Kaopectate or Imodium |
∗ Report any fever greater than 100.8 that does NOT respond to Tylenol.
∗∗ If you have vomiting and diarrhea for more than 24 hours please call the office.
Dental Procedures:
If you require dental procedures during your pregnancy, the following
medications are allowed.
| Anesthetic: | Novocaine, Lidocaine, Xylocaine without Epinephrine, |
| Pain: | Tylenol 3, Vicodin, Tylox, Darvocet, Percocet |
| Antibiotics: | Erythromycin, Penicillin, Keflex, Ampicillin, Amoxicillin |
| Dental x-rays are allowed if your abdomen is shielded with a lead apron. | |
